Mr. DeVoren had been a lawyer at Dechert LLP for 20 years, first as an associate, and since 1999 a partner in Dechert's Environmental and Corporate & Securities group. Ivan’s practice includes transactional, regulatory compliance, general environmental counseling and litigation support.

In the transactional area, Mr. DeVoren provides environmental advice in the context of mergers and acquisitions, real estate acquisitions and financing. In the regulatory compliance area, Mr. DeVoren represents business, real estate and lending clients in local, state, federal and foreign environmental regulatory compliance matters, including air emissions, waste management and minimization and waste water and storm water discharges, "Superfund" and other clean up schemes, waste disposal contracting, green technology, sustainability, Brownsfields redevelopment, global warming, carbon tracking and analysis, renewable energy and risk evaluations.

Mr. DeVoren also provides general environmental counseling, including: selecting and contracting with environmental specialists, waste disposal or treatment/recycling facilities; securing and obtaining environmental insurance; supporting environmental litigation and environmental insurance coverage matters; evaluating asset impairment, compliance status and contingent liabilities for purposes of preparing governmental regulatory filings; permit and regulatory matters; and strategic planning.
