Bernie is a partner in the Business Department of Kleinbard Bell & Brecker LLP and focuses his practice in real estate law. Bernie has an extensive practice representing developers, investors and managers of real estate, including purchasers, sellers and landlords of environmentally contaminated real estate. That practice includes assemblage of land; land planning, permitting and zoning; drafting construction contracts, construction management and architects' agreements, and related contracts; sophisticated financing; condominium conversion of residential property; commercial condominiums; and big box leasing. He has also represented major charitable institutions, developers and industrial and commercial real estate users. Bernie has handled matters including: construction of complex facilities and "power centers"; sophisticated public, bond, tax exempt, governmental, and private financing facilities; structuring partnership and joint venture arrangements; and tax exempt exchanges.

Bernie has published articles or lectured in the fields of construction contracts and leasing for the American Bar Association and has chaired panel presentations at several American Bar Association annual meetings. He is currently the Vice Chair of the Commercial Real Estate Transactions Group of the American Bar Association, and was recently Chair of the Easements, Restrictions and Covenants Committee and Vice Chair of the Design and Construction Committee. In addition to his activity in the American Bar Association, he is a member of the Philadelphia Bar Association, where he served on the executive committee of the real property section.

Bernie has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia and has chaired or been a member of several of its major operating committees. He was a director of his swim club, was outside counsel for the Pennsylvania Occupational Therapy Association and was a judge in the Outstanding Junior Member Contest, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution.

Bernie received his undergraduate degree in electrical engineering, in 1967, and his law degree, in 1971 from the University of Pennsylvania. He is admitted to the Bar of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
