John is a partner in the Business Department. He has extensive knowledge of corporate and tax law. His areas of expertise include mergers and acquisitions, estate planning, private company structuring, executive compensation, minority shareholder disputes, capital structuring, securitization, debt financing, private equity funds, and real estate planning. John’s professional career includes clerking for Justice William J. Brennan, Jr. on the U.S. Supreme Court as well as Judge J. Skelly Wright on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. Prior to joining the firm, John was a member of Wolf, Block, Schorr and Solis-Cohen, LLP for twenty years (partner 1989-2003), and most recently was a partner in a boutique estate planning, tax, and business law practice at Horvitz P.C.
John received his law degree in 1981 from Stanford University Law School. He was elected to the Order of the Coif, a member of the Stanford Law Review 1979-1981 (Managing Editor 1980-1981) and received the Hilmer Oehlman, Jr. Prize for legal writing. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree summa cum laude for comparative literature in 1978 from Yale University. John is admitted to the Bar of Pennsylvania.
