Edward M. Dunham, Jr., a senior member of the firm’s Insurance Coverage and Risk Management practice group, concentrates his practice in the areas of corporate risk assessment, risk management and governance, insurance and reinsurance coverage, Internet and e-commerce risk management and insurance coverage, and commercial litigation with an emphasis on risk avoidance.

Along with a business partner of the firm, Mr. Dunham has developed a family of proprietary, algorithm-based risk assessment service offerings that, when combined with services provided by the firm and its business partners, assists insurance and reinsurance brokers, intermediaries and underwriters, as well as policyholders to assess the risks to be insured or reinsured. The family of offerings includes an assessment of and compliance recommendations relative to the numerous regulatory requirements facing corporations, an assessment of the legal, technological and managerial risks of transacting business on the Internet, a HIPAA gap analysis assessment, ISO 17799 compliance, and security threat analysis and capabilities for large corporations and state governmental entities. Mr. Dunham is a frequent lecturer on Internet and e-commerce risks and solutions.

Mr. Dunham is an adjunct professor of Advanced Insurance Law and Risk Management at Rutgers-Camden Law School and a past Chair of the Committee of Seventy, a good-governance watch dog organization. He is a Trustee of the Foreign Policy Research Institute, a Director of the International Visitors Council, a member of the Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS), the Professional Liability Underwriting Society and the Defense Research Institute. In addition, he is a member of the Federal Courts Committee of the Philadelphia Bar Association, the Association’s City Policy Committee and a member of the Insurance Society of Philadelphia.

Mr. Dunham is a naval aviator with more than 6,000 hours of pilot time. During his 14 years of active duty and 24 years in the active reserves, he flew a variety of single and multiengine jet, turbo prop and reciprocating engine aircraft. He holds a civilian instrument rating as single engine (land) and multiengine (land and sea) pilot and is a graduate of the Naval War College. Mr. Dunham is a retired captain in the Naval Reserve, a veteran of the Vietnam War and an avid open-ocean racing sailor.

Mr. Dunham is a 1975 graduate of Harvard Law School and a graduate of the University of Rhode Island.
