Charter School Representation

Kleinbard serves as outside counsel to several Philadelphia charter schools. Our attorneys advise schools in all aspects related to the operation of a charter school, including, initial charter application, 501(C)(3) tax-exempt registration, charter renewal process, site acquisition and leasing, management company contracts, financing options, student and employee issues, and relations with the School District of Philadelphia.

Recently, our attorneys successfully represented a Philadelphia charter school in a hearing before the School Reform Commission challenging the School District's decision not to renew its charter. The hearing resulted in the School Reform Commission granting the school a full 5 year charter renewal. This was the first successful challenge of the non-renewal of a charter in Philadelphia.
